See it: Giants’ Daniel Jones, Nick Gates crush home runs at charity game

New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones made a surprise visit at a charity softball game in Rockland County on Saturday night, but then took things a step further when he wowed the crowd with a towering dinger off Big Blue fan Joe Ruback, otherwise known as License Plate Guy.

Jones’ homer, which can be seen below, came after his first plate appearance ended in an RBI single.

Not to be outdone, Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates, who was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Nebraska in 2018, crushed a few bombs of his own. However, one stood out above the rest — one that left the entire stadium.

Those in attendance estimated Gates’ longest home run traveled between 340-350 feet, which is remarkable for a slow-pitch softball game.

All in all, it was a strong showing for current Giants, both on the field during the game itself and during the Home Run Derby.
