See how good Northumberland looks in the new Transformers movie

Sweeping coastline and stunning castles - that’s what the North East is contributing to the upcoming new Transformers movie.

If this “wrap video” - just released to mark the official end of filming - is anything to go by, then the final result is set to show the region looking its dramatic best.

The team behind the blockbuster franchise were lured by some of the best locations in the world when they set out to make Transformers: The Last Knight which saw filming take place across three continents.

And there was huge excitement in the region on discovering Newcastle and Northumberland were picked to be among them.

When director Michael Bay brought cast and crew north from their London shoot in September, they were clearly impressed with what they found here.

And, in Bay’s new wrap video, Alnwick Castle and a beautiful stretch of coastline can be seen in all their northern glory.

During the shoot, Sir Anthony Hopkins, who filmed at Alnwick and Bamburgh with US star Mark Wahlberg, took time out to chat to delighted locals who had turned up for a glimpse of the stars in their midst.

And at the same time the nearby beaches were being used for some explosive action - quite literally when the coastal calm was disrupted by loud bangs during the staging for the ongoing movie battle between man and machine.

Supercars and military vehicles also zoomed up to Northumberland after being used for a fast and furious shoot in Newcastle. Look out in the clip for the unusual sight of a tank in Alnwick Castle’s grounds.
