See Dublin from the best viewpoint in the city hidden in old chimney

Dublin’s best viewpoint of the city isn't found at the top of Croke Park or anywhere in town - it's actually hidden in an old chimney at a popular whiskey distillery.

The Chimney Viewing Tower was originally a part of the famous Jameson Whiskey Distillery in Smithfield.

And the sky’s the limit with a trip to the top of one of Dublin’s tallest landmarks, as it is now open to visitors who seek a new angle on the fair city.

It’s perfect for tourists this summer as you can see the many famous sights of the capital right from Smithfield - and if you’re looking to get your steps in, there’s a good few to tackle to get to the top.

Carl ,who works at the Generator Hostel beside the tower, told Dublin Live: “This is a 360 viewpoint tower and it was actually voted the best viewpoint in Dublin.

“It’s 259 steps up to the top and you get a view of the whole city..

“You can purchase the tickets from Generator Dublin, you can just press the bell at the door and we’ll let you in.

“It’s been here since 1895 and it used to be the chimney for Jameson Distillery.

“There’s a floor up the top to see what’s closer and then a floor above to see what’s further out. You can actually see as far as the Dublin Mountains. It’s a great view up there.”

You can go into the Generator Dublin which is right beside the chimney and pay just €5 to get some of the best views of the city
