Security staff feared Tyson Fury's wife Paris Fury was a victim of human trafficking

Paris Fury has said that airport security staff once feared she was a victim of a human trafficking plot whilst travelling to see her husband Tyson Fury abroad earlier in his career.

The 31-year-old, who has been married to the boxing champ since 2008, had been on her way to support him before his fight against Zack Page in Canada in 2010.

Paris, who was in her early twenties at the time, had headed over with Tyson's then-promoter, Mick Hennessy, and boxing coach, John Ingle, as reported by the Daily Star.

Discussing the experience in her new book, Love and Fury, she said: "It was the first time I'd flown anywhere without friends or family by my side, so it all felt a little bit strange."

She said Mick and John were "nice enough blokes" but she doesn't recall much conversation between the middle-age men and herself - then a mum-of-one in her early 20s.

Paris continued: "Maybe I looked a little nervous or awkward in their company, because when we landed at the airport in Canada I was stopped at the departure gates by a pair of stern-looking security guards."

She said that they questioned her, including asking about her final destination and reasons for travelling. Paris said they then asked if she knew her travel companions, to which she "truthfully" replied: "A little bit, but not very well."

Paris acknowledged that "in hindsight, this was probably the wrong thing to say." She said that officials soon took her to one side, with her adding: "Clearing believing that I was either the victim of some sinister human trafficking plot, or that I was up to no good with a couple of sugar daddies."

She suggested that she was probed for some time and said that the security staff even asked if she was there on her own free will, before searching "all [her] bags and pockets."

Paris, who now has six children with husband Tyson, was later granted entry though. She said: "Eventually I managed to convince them that everything was legit and above board, and they finally waved me through."

'Love and Fury: The Magic and Mayhem of Life with Tyson' is available now in paperback, hardback and other formats.
