The incident took place on Monday at a venue prepared for the Prime Minister’s visit to the HPCL refinery project site in Balotra. A youth managed to enter the restricted ‘D’ security zone and accessed the VVIP stage despite tight security arrangements. He reportedly recorded a video from the stage, which later circulated widely on social media.
Authorities have described the incident as a major security lapse. The Prime Minister’s visit, originally planned for Tuesday to inaugurate the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited refinery project, was later cancelled following a fire incident at one of the refinery units a day earlier.
Preliminary findings suggest negligence by personnel of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary deployed at the venue, who failed to prevent unauthorized access to the stage area.
Officials stated that strict action is being taken against those responsible. “Ensuring that no unauthorized person reaches the VVIP stage is the responsibility of the deployed personnel. Any lapse will invite strict disciplinary action,” authorities said.
Jodhpur Range Inspector General Satendra Singh termed the incident a serious security failure. He confirmed that Pachpadra SHO has been suspended and a directive has been issued to the RAC Commandant to identify and act against the personnel on duty.
“After the refinery fire incident, a youth named Arshad entered the stage area and recorded a video, which he later circulated on social media. This is a significant security breach,” the IG said.
Police also detained three individuals in connection with the incident for questioning, later releasing them after preliminary interrogation.
An internal investigation is ongoing to determine how the breach occurred despite multiple layers of security deployed for the Prime Minister’s visit, including VVIP protection protocols for Narendra Modi.
