A security guard at London’s five-star Savoy Hotel has been filmed attacking a homeless man before jumping on his head as he lay prone on the ground.
The bouncer – dressed in suit and tie – is seen punching his victim, throwing him to the ground and repeatedly kicking him in the face at the entrance to the West End landmark.
He ends the horrifying assault by jumping in the air and stamping with both feet on his victim’s head.
Other security staff and a doorman – dressed in top hat and tails – can be seen looking on but do not intervene.
A spokesperson for The Savoy – which charges up to £500 a night for its rooms – said it had not previously been aware of the incident on 30 December but had now launched a full investigation.
They said the attacker was not a not a member of Savoy staff, and had been employed by a third-party security contractor.
It is not known either what sparked the attack or what became of the victim, who was dressed in a high-vis jacket and woolly hat.
The Metropolitan Police said it was “aware of the incident”.
A spokesperson from the hotel said: “Yesterday we became aware of this utterly deplorable incident and immediately launched a comprehensive investigation. To date we have found that the report at the time of the incident neglected any detail of the seriousness of what happened.
"We have reported the incident to the police. The individual concerned is no longer associated with the hotel in any way. We are shocked and appalled by his actions and apologise to the individual and the public for what occurred.”
