Security guard killed in Gary bank robbery

A security guard was killed during an apparent bank robbery Friday in Gary, Indiana.

The incident happened at First Midwest Bank, 1975 W. Ridge Rd., according to the Lake County, Indiana sheriff’s office.

Investigators believe the security guard was approached outside and may have been ambushed, the sheriff’s office said.

The Lake County, Indiana sheriff’s office is investigating.
