Security guard hospitalised after 'assault' at Dublin train station

A security guard has been hospitalised after he was allegedly assaulted while on duty at a Dublin train station.

The shocking attack took place at Connolly Station on Sunday evening at around 7pm.

The security guard is believed to have suffered facial injuries in the incident and was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment, Dublin Live reports.

A spokeswoman for Irish Rail said the matter had been reported to gardai.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident at Connolly Station, Dublin on Sunday 26 May 2019 at approximately 7pm, where an alleged assault of a member of staff took place.

"He was taken to the Mater Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."
