A security guard has denied raping a woman while working at an NHS hospital.

Nicholas Bell, 22, pleaded not guilty to assaulting the woman, who is in her 30s, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex in April.

His trial is fixed for September 29.

Judge Christopher Morgan of the Chelmsford Crown Court told Bell via video link that the court date may be changed due to the coronavirus pandemic and that "there are a number of caveats".

He added: “You will appreciate the difficulties we all face in the current emergency.

"The court will do its best to meet that trial date but understand that it’s not guaranteed.”

Mr Bell was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
