Updated: As of 2:55pm, the security alert at the Southway area of Derry/Londonderry is now over.
It was reported that a vehicle was located at the junction with High Park. Upon arrival by police, the vehicle was taken away from the area following the incident.
A security alert in Derry has caused a road closure this afternoon.
Police have closed Southway as they attend to the alert and have advised motorists to avoid the area.
The PSNI released a statement regarding the incident and said: "Police are currently in attendance following a security alert at the Southway area of Derry/Londonderry this afternoon (Monday 3 rd August).
"The Southway is closed at the junction with High Park and motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative main routes for their journey.
"There are no further details at this stage."
