HYDERABAD: Lieutenant General JS Sidana took over as the commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Telangana's Secunderabad. He will assume charge on April 1, 2022.
Sidana is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (EME) on December 14, 1985. The officer is also an alumnus of IIT-Kanpur, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. He distinguished himself in almost all the courses and his noteworthy academic credentials include a masters in management studies from Osmania University, MTech from IIT-Kanpur and master of philosophy from Punjab University.
During his career spanning over 37 years, he held a variety of important regimental, command, instructional and staff appointments in the Indian Army. He also commanded the prestigious 510 Army Base Wksp, Meerut and 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad besides being the general manager (production) at 509 Army Base Wksp, Agra.
The officer is also a recipient of five commendation cards i.e. GOC-in-C ARTRAC (twice), GOC-in-C Northern Comd, GOC-in-C Eastern Comd & GOC-in-C Central Comd for distinguished service rendered during his illustrious career.
Before assuming command of the prestigious institution, he paid homage to the bravehearts at the EME War Memorial in Secunderabad on March 31.
