Motorists are being warned of disruption on a busy commuter route into Bristol which is to close overnight next month.
The stretch of the A38 New Road from the junction of Skinners Lane to the Churchill Inn is to close from Monday (October 5) between 8pm and 6am for five nights.
Commuters are being warned of delays and people travelling to Bristol Airport are being advised to leave extra time for their journeys.
The closure is to allow a £227,000 programme of repairs to the road including resurfacing the carriageway, kerb repairs and footpath patching.
A diversion will be in place and highways chiefs are warning there will be some disruption.
North Somerset Council executive member for transport Councillor James Tonkin said: "This is a main route so the work will inevitably cause some disruption and delay.
"We are trying to minimise upheaval by carrying the work out at night. There will be a fully signed diversion in place for all vehicles including HGVs."
Work is also being timed to minimise disruption to local residents.
Mr Tonkin added: "The contractor will look to carry out the noisier works early in the shift to reduce the noise disruption.
"We have also allowed for Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October as contingency days just in case we experience any delays or if the weather intervenes.
"Anyone planning on using this route to get to Bristol Airport should consider an alternative route or allow extra time form their journey."
