Section of A1 Belfast to Dublin road closed following 'serious' crash

Part of a major road has been closed to traffic after what the PSNI described as a "serious" crash.

The A1 is shut southbound at Hillsborough following the collision.

Earlier, the PSNI said: "Motorists are advised that the A1 is closed southbound at Hillsborough following a serious road traffic collision this morning (Monday, November 2nd).

"Diversions are in place, please seek alternative routes for your journey."

Meanwhile, police have said that a Downpatrick road is also closed this morning following a crash.

NI Road Policing said on Twitter: "The Ballydugan Road in Downpatrick is closed in both directions following a road traffic collision. Diversions are in place."

Trafficwatch NI said: "Drivers are advised of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on A25 Ballydugan Road in Downpatrick near Tullymurray Equestrian Centre.

"Diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area. Police are at the scene. Please follow their direction (10:23)."

There are no further details at this stage.
