'Secret' TV series and Netflix romcom transform Kildare locations with Freida Pinto and Ashley Park spotted on sets recently

Two Kildare businesses who shut their doors due to Covid-19 were transformed into film sets over the last number of months with Emily in Paris' Ashley Park and Slumbdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto spotted on set.

Brennan's Kilteel Inn in the village of Kilteel has kept busy while locked down being tranformed into a film set for a mystery TV series.

The pub have stayed quiet about what is being shot at their business but they've dropped several hints that Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar and comedian Tommy Tiernan have both been through their doors recently.

The first season of Virgin Media's crime drama Blood starring Dunbar has previously been filmed at the 100-year-old pub however there is no indication that they have returned for a second season of filming.

And just 30 minutes up the road, the popular Castletown House - an 18th century country home in Celbridge - has been the set for upcoming Netflix romcom Mr Malcom's List for the last few months.

Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto, Emily in Paris' Ashley Park and Theo James from The Divergent Series have all caused a stir in the town outside Leixlip when caught on camera strolling through the set.

The Universal pictures film Mr Malcom's List set in 1888 is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Allain.

The flick is set to be released in 2022 and follows Julia who is rejected as a possible bride for London's most eligible bachelor Mr Malcom because she meet the criteria on his list of requirements to become his bride.

The movie marks the feature directing debut of Emma Holly Jones who recently released a short film with the same characters.

The Kildare brush with Hollywood is just one on the list of many over the last number of months in Ireland with Disney's Disenchanted taking over parts of Co Wicklow and Co Louth.

And more recently, Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks moved her family to Ireland to shoot for her new film Cocaine Bear.
