Secret Only Fools and Horses scenes that are 'comedy history' uncovered 29 years on

“Lost” scenes from Only Fools and Horses have now emerged 29 years later.

The Christmas special episode, called Heroes and Villains, aired in 1996 and follows Del Boy Trotter (Sir David Jason) and Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) dressing up as Batman and Robin to accidentally stop a mugging.

However, there are extended scenes that never made the final cut, which include Del later chasing down a thief and knocking him unconscious, The Sun reported.

In the deleted sequence, a police officer arrives and Del tells him, “It’s alright officer, I caught him, he’s over there!" - however the policeman walks over and arrests Rodney instead of the mugger.

The deleted scene, described as “comedy history”, has been uncovered in a script that belonged to late actor Roger Lloyd Pack, who played Trigger in the beloved BBC sitcom.

The 155-page script - signed by stars like Sir David Jason and the late John Challis, who played secondhand car dealer Boycie - is expected to sell for between £2,000 and £3,000 at Bristol-based auction house, Auctioneum.

The script belonged to late star Roger Lloyd Pack

Lloyd Pack had marked out his own lines in black ink in the script, which goes under the hammer on June 30.

Another scene that never made the episode involves Del and Rodney rushing out of their flat just as a series of alarm clocks go off.

They go to Del’s car, a Capri Ghia, and find the group of vandals lurking around it - although they are scared off by the duo and the noise of the alarms.

Auctioneer Andy Stowe, an Only Fools and Horses fan himself, revealed one of the muggers was played by the actress Sheree Murphy and that the thieves had a whole storyline that was cut.

He said: "As a fan of the show myself, I was flicking through the script and began to read lines of dialogue that I didn’t recognise.

"As I carried on reading, I realised that these were scenes and lines that had been cut from the episode. Some of them are very funny.”

"To have Roger’s actual script, with his lines marked within it, is really something special. This is comedy history, in black and white on the page,” he added.

The private seller acquired Lloyd Pack’s script from the Only Fools and Horses Society.

The hugely popular sitcom set in Peckham aired for seven series from 1981 to 2003.

Last month, Sir David Jason, 85, briefly reprised his role as Del Boy on Chris Moyles’ radio show.

“Can I say hello to Del Boy,” Moyles asked, clearly excited, during the acting legend’s guest appearance.

“Oh go on then pal,” he replied in character.

He also spoke about getting annoyed when other actors take themselves too seriously.

“One of the things that irritates me greatly, is when I read or hear stories about some actors who have to be quiet, ‘Don't talk to me, stay there. I want to be on my own,’ he said.

“Why is that? ‘I've got to get into character, and I need this morning to get into my character.’ And I think, you know, do me a favour.”

Jason previously admitted he still wears some of Del Boy’s more outlandish clothes, which he took home in a “big suitcase” after the final episode.

The actor said he often rocks a sweater from the show and has also got a big sheepskin coat that Del wore at the start of the series.
