Secret Invasion: Hollywood stars set to descend on Scotland for new Marvel series

Hollywood stars could be set to descend on Scotland - and possibly Glasgow - in the not-to-distant future for a huge production.

Glasgow Live understands that filming will soon commence here for Marvel's Secret Invasion, the newly announced series heading to Disney+ starring the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

Rumours surfaced earlier this month that filming is due to take place in Scotland (as well as in London) for the comic book adaption, which explores the invasion of Earth by a group of alien shapeshifters who have secretly replaced many Marvel superheroes.

And now it seems to have been confirmed after series co-director Thomas Bezucha posted a photo on Instagram last night at Loch Lomond.

Bezucha, who most recently wrote and directed thriller Let Him Go starring Diane Keaton and Kevin Costner, will helm filming of the series alongside fellow filmmaker Ali Selim.

The news comes after we revealed that big-budget spectacular Batgirl has started pre-production in Glasgow, and will once again see the city double up as Gotham when filming commences in November.

The upcoming DC flick will see Leslie Grace (In the Heights) take on the role of Gotham’s young female vigilante Batgirl, who comic book fans will know is actually Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon’s daughter Barbara.
