A 35-year-old Darwin woman has been charged and remanded in custody over the alleged abduction of five-year-old, Grace Hughes.
Police on Friday announced Grace had been handed over to police, almost a fortnight after authorities alleged she was taken without permission by her mother, Laura Hinks, during a supervised parental visit in the Darwin suburb of Berrimah.
In a statement released on Saturday afternoon, Northern Territory police said the woman was charged with both attempted abduction and abduction of a child under 16.
Police said Grace was in good physical health and would undergo a medical check, but gave no information about where she had been.
Ms Hinks was on Friday being interviewed by police.
Earlier this week police said a group peddling "ideologies and false information" was behind the alleged abduction.
On Thursday the Australian Federal Police joined their Northern Territory counterparts in the search for Grace and her mother.
Another Darwin woman, 50-year-old Juliet Oldroyd, was charged last weekend in relation to Grace's disappearance.
