Second Waterford player tests negative for coronavirus after showing symptoms

Waterford have avoided a potential crisis after test results on a second player showing suspected Covid-19 symptoms came back negative.

Tuesday’s clash in Sligo was postponed after two players reported symptoms, with the first player testing negative for the virus earlier this week.

Waterford had received permission from the FAI to return to activities while they awaited the results of the second test.

Today’s game with Cork City went ahead - the Munster rivals drawing 0-0 this afternoon - before the club this evening confirmed results of the second test.

Waterford stated: "The results of our second suspected case of COVID-19 have been returned negative. All club activity will now be restored."
