Second ‘unexplained death’ in Scots town after OAP dies just hours before body found in car

Police have launched an investigation into the ‘unexplained’ death of an OAP found just hours before a woman was discovered dead in a car in the same town.

Officers were called to the property in Kellie Court, Glenrothes shortly before 7am on Monday, August 9.

A 69-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene with police enquiries into the circumstances ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.50am on Monday, 9 August, to a report of a sudden death at a property in Kellie Court, Glenrothes.

“The body of a 69-year-old woman was found within.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.”

Just hours later, officers were later called to the nearby Cable Road after the body of a woman was discovered inside a vehicle.

Her death is also being treated as ‘unexplained’ however the two incidents are not believed to be connected.

Specialist forensic officers have been pictured at the scene which has been blocked off by police.

A statement from the force said: “Officers in Glenrothes were called to Cable Road around 9am on Monday, 9 August, to reports of the sudden death of a woman found within a vehicle.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are at an early stage.”
