Second teen charged over Laa Chol death at Melbourne apartment

A second teenager has been charged by Victoria Police over the death of Melbourne woman Laa Chol, who was killed during an altercation at a party in a short-stay city apartment.

Homicide Squad detectives today charged a 16-year-old boy with being an accessory to murder and assault.

Ms Chol, 19, from Pakenham in Melbourne's outer south-east, died after she received serious injuries at EQ Tower in A'Beckett Street in the early hours of Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the tower but Ms Chol died at the scene.

Police said a group had rented the city apartment for a party, and a dispute arose after a second group arrived.

They said they believed everyone at the apartment was in their late teens or early twenties.

Ms Chol was a second-year legal studies student and talented soccer player.

Earlier this week a 17-year-old boy appeared in court charged with Ms Chol's murder.

Police said the 16-year-old boy has been remanded and will appear at a children's court at a later date.
