Second severe weather warning for Glasgow as UK prepares for Storm Brendan

A second weather warning has been issued by the Met Office as the UK prepares to be battered by Storm Brendan.

A severe warning for rain had earlier been put in place for Glasgow and the surrounding Strathclyde region, from 6am to 3pm.

A further yellow weather warning for wind has now been issued, from 5am to 5pm tomorrow.

Forecasters say of the latest advice: "Very strong winds are expected during Tuesday and may cause some disruption.

What to expect:

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer, made worse by spray and surface water
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

The Met Office had said ahead of the initial weather warning: "Heavy rain and gusty winds may lead to travel disruption.

What to expect:

  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
