Police have removed a second protestor who obstructed the rail lines at Sandgate this morning after a woman was earlier assisted down from a 20 metre electrical pylon around 6am.
The man, who also streamed the stunt online and is affiliated with the same activist group as the woman and another man who staged a similar protest yesterday, barricaded himself inside an immobilised car on the rail lines for around half an hour.
Police earlier employed a cherrypicker crane to assist the 20 year-old woman to the ground from an steel platform suspended on an electrical pylon at Sandgate, secured by a monopole over the rail lines near a bridge connecting trains to and from Port of Newcastle.
The latest protest comes in the wake of an earlier stunt on Monday by the same activist group where a man suspended himself from a nine-metre tripod structure over the rail lines around the same time. He was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.
