A second person has been charged with murder over the death of Ballarat mother Kobie Parfitt.

A 32-year-old woman who is currently in prison has been charged with one count of murder, police say.

She will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.

Ms Parfitt was last seen alive on April 28 last year at a property on Hickman St.

During the investigation into her death, police found human remains in a mine shaft at Snake Gully near Ballarat on December 22, but they are yet to be identified.

A 31-year-old Wendouree man has already been charged with Ms Parfitt's murder and faced court on December 30.
