Second pensioner dies after horror two-car crash on A9 near Inverness

A second pensioner has died following a horror two-crash on the A9 near Inverness.

We told how emergency services raced to the Munlochy junction at the B9161 and A9 after being called to the incident, which took place at around 4.20pm on Friday, November 19.

The crash involved a white Nissan Pixo and a red Volvo V60.

The driver of the Nissan, an 86-year-old woman, was taken to Raigmore Hospital where she sadly later died.

Police have now confirmed that an 88-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was injured in the crash and also passed away on Saturday, December 4.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.

“The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this time.”
