A second man has faced court charged with the murder of Melbourne man Brendon Farrell.

Richard Jackson, 49, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, a day after his arrest.

He is the third person charged in relation to the disappearance of Mr Farrell, who was last seen by a friend on May 31 at his Doveton home.

A 30-year-old Hampton Park man has also been charged with murder while a 49-year-old Noble Park man is charged with accessory to murder.

Police believe Mr Farrell fell victim to a violent crime at his property.

Detectives discovered suspected human remains at a Noble Park home on Friday. A post-mortem examination is underway.

The court heard Jackson has an acquired brain injury and diagnoses of scoliosis, spina bifida and asthma and that he takes medication for those conditions.

He's due to face court again for a committal mention on December 3, alongside his co-accused.
