Second monkeypox case reported in Kerala

KOZHIKODE: One more confirmed case of monkeypox has been reported in Kerala, health minister Veena George said in a press release issued in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

The 31-year-old man hailing from Kannur who had come from Dubai on July 13 is under treatment at the Pariyaram Government Medical College Hospital.

The samples of the patient tested positive at the National Institute of Virology, Pune.

Health department authorities said that the patient's health condition is satisfactory. The minister said that all his close contacts are under observation.

This is the second monkeypox case reported in the country. The first monkeypox case was reported in Kerala on July 14.
