Second missing hiker rescued from Mt. Baldy, reunited with family

Feb. 11--Search crews rescued a second hiker Wednesday afternoon from Mt. Baldy after he had become separated from his brother during a day hike.

The 72-year-old hiker, Kil Pyung Auh, was reunited with family who reported him and his sibling missing Tuesday when they didn't return from their hike.

San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said he was taken to an area hospital because he was slightly dehydrated and fatigued.

He was hoisted into a helicopter after being found in the area of Good Canyon, west of San Antonio Falls.

His 70-year-old brother, Heun Pyung Auh, was found about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was in good condition, sheriff's officials said.

Search teams and a bloodhound combed the area for the brothers throughout the day and night.

The younger brother told authorities that they were hiking but became separated near San Antonio Falls, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Search-and-rescue team members had been looking for Kil Pyung Auh near the south side of Devil's Backbone.

The brothers' family reported them missing after they didn't return from their hike, which started about 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Family members had expected them to return home around 3 or 4 p.m. Tuesday.
