Second man charged in connection with John Dalziel death after Paisley house blaze

A second man has been charged in connection with the death of John Dalziel.

Emergency services rushed to a fire at a property in Whitesbridge Avenue in Paisley, Renfrewshire after being alerted to the blaze at 10pm on May 6 last year.

Officers then found John inside.

He was pulled out by fire officers and rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but died a short time later.

On May 20, John Thomas, 38, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court charged in connection with the death.

He made no plea to the single charge against him and was again remanded in custody after being fully committed for trial.

Police have since confirmed that a second man had been charged in connection with the death.

The 57-year-old is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
