Second man charged in connection with attempted murder after cop injured in Glasgow disturbance

A second man has been charged in connection with an attempted murder in Glasgow which left a policeman seriously injured.

A car was driven at a male officer on Devonshire Gardens, off Hyndland Road in the city's west end during a disturbance at around 5.50pm on Tuesday, July 21.

The 36-year-old officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers from Police Scotland said that plain clothed officers were in the area as part of an ongoing investigation when the disturbance took place.

A 53-year-old man was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries following the disturbance.

The 53-year-old was arrested as was a 30-year-old man.

Yesterday we reported the 30-year-old was charged with attempted murder and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today (Thursday).

The 53-year-old man has now been charged, Police Scotland has confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that two men have been charged in connection with an attempted murder in Glasgow.

"The men, aged 30 and 53-years-old, were arrested following the incident which happened around 5.50pm on Tuesday, 21 July, on Devonshire Gardens."
