Second man charged following death of 'one of a kind' Clydebank man Billy McGuire

A second man has been charged in connection with the death of a Clydebank man.

Officers investigating the death of Billy McGuire confirmed a 25-year-old had been charged.

Police attended an address on Perth Crescent around 12.05am on Monday, 21 December, 2020 where two men were found seriously injured.

Both men were taken to hospital where Billy, 25 was pronounced dead a short time later.

Pals have since paid tribute to him on social media after he was formally identified by police and described him as ‘one of a kind’.

One friend wrote: “Aw Bill. You’ll be sorely missed by many.”

Another said: “Thinking of his babys and his misses and family at this horrible time. You defo were one of a kind bee mcgee.”

A third added: “Fly high buff sleep tight son GBNF thinking of all the family at this sad time.”

Commenting on the latest development, Detective Chief Inspector Alan McAlpine of the Major Investigation Team said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing into this investigation and I want to thank members of the public for their assistance so far.

“We continue to support Billy's family at this difficult time and would ask anyone who has any further information that could assist with our enquiries to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The man is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 13 January, 2021.
