Second man arrested over 'wild' illegal rave in Trafford where three were stabbed and woman allegedly raped

A second man has been arrested in connection with an illegal rave in Trafford.

Three people were stabbed and a woman was allegedly raped at the gathering at a remote area in Carrington on Saturday June 13.

Around 2,000 people are believed to have attended the rave at an industrial site off Common Lane.

On Tuesday (June 23) police investigating the event arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to cause public nuisance and criminal damage.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The latest arrest comes after a 33-year-old man was arrested and bailed on the same charges, as police seized sound, visual equipment and a laptop from a house in Salford.

About 4,000 people also attended an illegal rave at Daisy Park in Oldham on the same night, at which a man - named as Joe Robinson - died from a suspected overdose.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public nuisance in connection with this event.

The Carrington rave was described as 'wild' by senior police - video footage showed youths fighting with machetes.

Greater Manchester Police have since set up a dedicated policing operation to gather intelligence on any future planned raves.

Detective Inspector Julian Scarsbrook, of GMP’s Criminal Investigations Department, said: "Since last weekend’s raves at Carrington and Daisy Nook in Oldham, we have established a dedicated policing operation and are working alongside our partners to gather intelligence and protect our communities – this operation remains ongoing.

"We have now arrested two individuals in connection with this illegal rave in Carrington, and we remain committed to investigating all lines of enquiry available to us as we identify and pursue anyone involved in the organisation of illegal raves.

"I would like to continue appealing to the public for their support, and ask that anyone who has any intelligence about the raves last weekend or any planned for the future please contact police as soon as possible via our website or 101."
