The man, 40s, was arrested in Cork City on Thursday afternoon. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Tralee Garda Station, where an incident room has been established.

The first arrest was made in the early hours of October 6 in Cork. The suspect, a man in his 30s, is also being detained in Tralee.

Tommy Dooley was stabbed to death while attending the funeral of a friend, while Siobhan, 40s, also sustained serious injuries.

The couple, from Killarney, were in Tralee’s Rathass Cemetery for the interring of family friend, following requiem mass when they were both attacked and stabbed at around 11.45am.

Mr Dooley was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel, and his body was taken to University Hospital Kerry.

Meanwhile, Mrs Dooley remained in the hospital overnight, where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The scene is currently preserved by Kerry Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit for a full technical examination.
