A second man has been arrested following a series of arson attacks at two properties and a car linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
The 26-year-old was arrested at London Luton Airport at around 1.45pm on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life, the Met Police said.
The arrest was made by counter terrorism officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit and the man has been taken into police custody in London.
The arrest relates to three incidents - two at homes in Highbury and Kentish Town, as well as on a Toyota which used to belong to Sir Keir.
The vehicle fire took place on May 8 in Kentish Town, before a fire at the entrance of a property in Highbury on May 11 and a fire at a home in Kentish Town in the early hours of May 12.
Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have led the investigation into the fires.
It comes after a Ukrainian national appeared in court charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.
Roman Lavrynovych, 21, of Sydenham, appeared at Westminster magistrates' court on Friday to face the three charges.
Lavrynovych denied arson in a police interview.
Prosecutor Sarah Przybykska told the hearing: “The defendant is charged with three offences of aggravated arson.
“On May 8 in relation to a car parked in a residential street in Kentish Town, on May 11 in relation to a residential property in Islington, and on May 12 in relation to a residential property in the same street in Kentish Town when the car had been parked.
“The car and both properties were linked to the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.”
In the early hours of Monday, the emergency services responded to a fire at the Kentish Town home where Sir Keir lived before becoming Prime Minister and moving into 10 Downing Street.
Police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to reports of a fire at the residential address at 1.35am.
Damage was caused to the property's entrance but nobody was hurt.
A 4x4 reported to have previously belonged to Sir Keir and sold to a neighbour was set alight in the early hours of Thursday May 8 in the same street.
In the early hours of Sunday, firefighters dealt with a small fire at the front door of a house converted into flats in nearby Islington, which is also linked to the Prime Minister.
One person was assisted to safety via an internal staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus, LFB said.
Bethan David, head of the Crown Prosecution Service counter terrorism division, previously said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by the Metropolitan Police Service’s counter terrorism command, we have authorised criminal charges against a 21-year-old man after three fires in north London.
“Roman Lavrynovych has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, contrary to section 1(2) and (3) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.
“These charges relate to two fires at residential addresses in Islington on Sunday, 11 May 2025 and in Kentish Town on Monday 12 May 2025, as well as a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday 8 May 2025.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial.
“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
The Met Police said anyone with information that could assist the investigation should call police on 101 quoting CAD 441/12 May.
