Second man appears in court after alleged Ardrossan shooting

A second man has appeared in court charged with murder after another man died in an alleged shooting in North Ayrshire.

Paul Cairns was found badly injured when police were called to a house in Nithsdale Road in Ardrossan on Sunday.

The 42-year-old died at the scene shortly after.

Today a 50-year-old man was charged in connection with the death and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Martin Crawford was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

It comes after another man appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the incident.

James Ferguson was also charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

The 42-year-old made no plea and he too was remanded in custody.
