Second M57 motorway crash in three days as two cars collide

Emergency services recovered two vehicles from the M57 last night after a two-car smash.

Merseyside Police were called to Switch Island at 11.50pm to reports of a crash between a Ford Fiesta and Fiat Punto.

The force confirmed all drivers and passengers made it out of their cars.

It said only minor injuries were reported at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We were called at 11.50pm last night to a two car RTC at Switch Island involving a Ford Fiesta and Fiat Punto.

"All drivers and passengers were out of cars and only minor injuries reported.

"Both cars were later recovered."

Last night's incident comes just days after a fatal crash on the M57 earlier this week.

Father-of-two Lee Davis, from Liverpool died after he was involved in a crash on Monday.

The force said the 37-year-old's car left the southbound carriage of the motorway.

His loving family have paid a touching tribute to him today.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

In a statement the family said: “Lee Davis, 37, was a loving father to two beautiful girls, one and eight, and his heartbroken fianceé.

"He was such a caring and hardworking man, sadly taken from his family too soon in a tragic accident, without opportunity to see his girls grow up. They will now have to rebuild their world without their daddy in it.

“Lee was deeply loved by all his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by everyone.”
