Second Leeds protest announced against parliament shutdown - and it's happening tomorrow

A second demonstration has been announced for Leeds in the wake of the Prime Minister's move to shut down parliament for a whole month.

Boris Johnson has gone to the Queen to request sittings are suspended in the House of Commons, with claims this is his way of forcing through a no-deal Brexit.

A rally has already been planned for Saturday in Leeds, and now the campaign group Leeds For Europe have organised a protest - taking place tomorrow in City Square.

"This is an emergency", the group wrote on social media.

"Parliament is being shut down by a Prime Minister who wants to bypass it to force through #Brexit .

'Join the resistance now'

The PM has been a vocal supporter of leaving the EU without a deal since he took the reins at Downing Street last month.

In response to this latest criticism, Johnson has said it is 'completely untrue' that his motive is to force through a no deal Brexit and that MP's will still have ample time to debate the UK's departure from the EU.

The Queen agreed the request and parliament will shut down from mid-September until October 14.

A flash protest will take place in City Square at 5.30pm Thursday.
