Two journalists have been killed in Sri Lanka in the past two weeks. Selvarajah Rajivarnam, a reporter with Uthayan, a daily Tamil newspaper, was shot by a gunman on a motorcycle near the paper's offices in Jaffna. Chandrabose Suthaharan, editor of the magazine Nilam, was shot dead on April 16. Seven journalists and media assistants were killed in Sri Lanka in 2006, including three of Uthayan's staff.
