Second Hickory's Smokehouse to open near Manchester, with its own kids' cinema

The much-loved Hickory's Smokehouse has announced it's opening another site near Manchester.

The restaurants promise 'a real taste of Southern America', with classic smokehouse dishes of ribs, signature steaks, burgers and more.

There's also a specially created VIK menu, offering tasty dishes for kids, who will also get their own cinema room to enjoy.

The site is being developed at the former Boddington Arms in Wilmslow and follows the opening of a successful branch in Poynton last summer.

That one opened in the former Vernon Arms and was sadly forced to close its doors for a short time within days of opening after heavy rain left the cellar under four feet of water.

Wilmslow's Hickory's, in Racecourse Road, will be the latest addition to the small, privately owned group, which has been operating Upstairs At The Grill, an award-winning steakhouse restaurant in Chester for 20 years.

The very first Hickory’s opened in Chester almost 10 years ago, with the team now operating across the north west and midlands.

As well as the cinema room, there'll be table top entertainment and a ping pong table that should keep little kids, and big kids happy.

And it will feature 'a Sports Book' - an American concept, which basically means an area to show sporting events on giant screens. At this one there'll be a triple screen ‘jumbotron’ - a video display using large-screen television technology.

During the day, the area will be used as a quiet spot where people can work or have meetings.

The new restaurant is scheduled to open this spring.

Founder Neil McDonnell said: “We’ve had the site for several months and have been eager to start the transformation.

"Wilmslow has been on our wish-list of locations since we started our expansion back in 2014, so this will be a very exciting launch for us.

"It’s a fantastic location, in a vibrant area and we’re really excited to get to know our neighbours and locals.

"We will be going all out over the next few months to bring the people of Wilmslow something totally unique that will really add to the local dining and drinking scene.”

General manager Dani Billington added: “We genuinely welcome all guests of all ages, Hickory’s is for everyone, from extended families, groups of friends dining or just enjoying a glass of fizz or a pint in the bar to guests celebrating special occasions."
