Second body found in River Clyde believed to be missing Martin Ackland

Police have found a body in the search for a man who been missing for over three months.

Martin was last seen on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow city centre on Thursday, December 5.

Officers discovered the body in the King George V Docks area of the River Clyde around 9.25am on Thursday.

Formal identification is yet to take place but police confirmed that Martin's family have been informed.

At the same time, also in the King George V Docks area, cops also found a body in the search for missing John Bowman.

We told how how the 50-year-old from Shettleston, Glasgow, had not made contact with friends or family since 8.15pm on Thursday, January 30.

On the disappearance of Martin Ackland, a spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "We can confirm the body of a man was found in the King George V Docks area of the River Clyde around 9.25am today.

"Formal identification is still to take place but the family of Martin Ackland, who was last seen on Sauchiehall Street on Thursday, 5 December, 2019, have been informed.

"Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing."
