The second batch of tickets for next year’s Rugby World Cup will go on sale this week, with 300,000 available for 25 matches, including two quarter-finals in Cardiff.
The resale period has been split into three sections by the organisers, England 2015. Those who tried and failed to purchase tickets in September have been given a priority period of Monday and Tuesday to submit second applications before the partially successful applicants from the general sale – those who did not receive all the tickets they applied for – can apply on Wednesday and Thursday. The remaining tickets go back on general sale to the public at midday on Friday.
Sales will be made on a first come, first served basis, with tickets for Pool A and B matches available on Monday and Pool C and D matches, along with the knockout stages, going on sale on Tuesday.
In September more than five million tickets were applied for, with 950,000 sold. England’s pool matches against Australia and Wales are already sold out, as are the two quarter-finals at Twickenham, semi-finals and final. Tickets are available for New Zealand’s fixtures against Georgia, Namibia and Tonga, while there remain opportunities to watch all the home nations with the exception of England. The official resale service for people to sell unwanted tickets will launch in spring next year.
