ATLANTA _ An Atlanta United player has tested positive for COVID-19, making him the second in three days, according to information provided by the team on Saturday.
The names of the players weren't released by the team. Both players are asymptomatic, according to the team. The second positive test occurred on Friday. The second player has been in isolation since Wednesday.
The team held individual training sessions on Friday and Saturday and will hold another on Monday. The team will test personnel for the coronavirus again on Monday. If all test negative the team will resume full training on Tuesday.
Atlanta United is training in preparation for the MLS tournament in Orlando, which will begin on July 8.
Atlanta United was one of the first of the league's teams to begin individual voluntary training, small-group training and team training at its facility in Marietta. Prior to the first positive test, club officials have said that all healthy players have been training together.
MLS came up with a lengthy set of protocols that teams had to implement before they were allowed to hold any training sessions.
Atlanta United President Darren Eales is scheduled to speak about the team on Monday.
