Second arrest over alleged puppy raid at Castlemilk family home

Police have made another arrest in connection with an alleged theft of eight puppies during a house raid in Castlemilk .

Officers rushed to Barila Drive at around 1.30am on Wednesday, August 21 after reports a group of men wielding 'bladed weapons' broke into a home while a family were sleeping.

Police Scotland confirmed a 33-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged robbery, vandalism and theft.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later today.

It follows the news a 19-year-old was also arrested and charged in connection with the early morning raid.

During the alleged raid eight three-week-old bulldog puppies were stolen, and a 29-year-old man, 34-year-old woman and three children, aged 17, 10 and two, were left extremely distressed.

The suspects arrived to the house on the Castlemilk street in two vehicles - a silver coloured VW Polo and a silver coloured Audi .

Detective Inspector Lynsey Watters said: “A family has been targeted within their home while sleeping and a young 10-year-old girl is deeply traumatised by what has happened.

“The motive, for this attack, is unknown, however, we do believe it was targeted.

“I am appealing to members of the local community to contact us with any information they may have and to listen out for anything they might hear regarding this crime.

“Perhaps you saw the suspects, do you know anything about the cars?  Any small piece of information could prove significant in our investigation so please do get in touch.”
