SEC showdown: New televised collegiate event for men and women set for the Blessings

College golf is happening for some teams this fall, and there’s even a new tournament being televised on Golf Channel that features both men and women. The new Blessings Collegiate Invitational presented by Tyson Foods will be broadcast live for three hours each day on Oct. 5-7.

Blessing Golf Club, of course, played host to the 2019 NCAA Championship. This inaugural event is expected to feature all 14 men’s and women’s programs in the SEC in a 54-hole stroke play showdown.

“Tyson Foods believes strongly in the power of college athletics to shape the leaders of tomorrow and to inspire our country today,” said John Tyson, founder of Blessings Golf Club and chairman of Tyson Foods, Inc. “Through the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, we are proud to give college golfers a platform to compete, and fans another chance to view these incredible athletes. In these challenging times, it’s important to show how our lives can continue by supporting athletic programs that contribute to the success and future of the sport in a safe and responsible way.”

The event will be televised from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. EST each day, and there will be no spectators.

The women’s field is expected to showcase individuals such as Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina, currently No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad, who finished last season No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.

The men’s side features Ricky Castillo of Florida (No. 2 in Golfweek’s rankings) and John Augenstein of Vanderbilt (No. 7).
