Sebastien Pocognoli wants to mould Scotland into an aggressive, attacking team - and one the Tartan Army can relate to.

The former Belgium international has now officially been confirmed as the new national team manager and is set to meet the media at a press conference today.

He has already given an interview for the Scotland National Team social media channels though, and has set about explaining what supports can expect.

He said: "I think some passion daily on the pitch that I try to give to my players in the national team, you have to do it on a very short period of time, but I like it because you have to create like a family atmosphere.

"I like to just look forward on the pitch and try to attack and defend aggressively and try to create a lot of chances. So for that you need to to build a philosophy, a squad, training session, a staff who will go and and create a good atmosphere."

Pocognoli knows all about the reputation of the Tartan Army and is looking forward to attempting to harness their energy to help him progress the team.

Having already played against Scotland, he was asked about how excited he is to return with the fans on his side.

"Yeah, that's maybe the best part of the job, also for the players is to to play for your country in front of your supporter," he explained.

"And I just hope I can build with them my stuff and with the players, the style of play where the the supporters recognise themselves and I think the foundation is just to work hard, to run more the opponent and to play with a big heart for your country. And all the other details it's up to me to fix this and to make the players also happy on the pitch."

Young Scottish players like Robbie Ure, Kieron Bowie, Josh Doig and Lennon Miller are making waves on the continent and being touted to do the same at international level.

The new manager has been doing his research and is excited by the young talent at his disposal. He is looking forward to using the framework Steve Clarke has provided and blending it with that youthful energy.

"Yes, for sure. When I accept the job, you cannot accept without make any research or just to make sure that your philosophy can pass with the group. And so I did my homework and you see a big potential, a strong basement about what the previous staff and Steve Clarke bring. And for me it's very important to to make the new the new step with my ID.

"And yeah, there's also a young, a lot of young talent who are ready to to shine. And it's also my, my job to to keep and sharing the heritage but also to bring the new step in the style of play and and also the the future of the Scottish football," said the 39-year-old.

With Nations League matches against Slovenia and Switzerland coming up next month, he won't have long to settle in before announcing his first squad selection.

He admits he will have a busy start to the job as he tries to cast an eye on all the candidates for the squad.

"Yeah, it's just to to make sure that I see everybody," he said.

"To make also a selection about in relation with my style of play what I want to bring it and like I say also sharing the heritage who was built with this squad. It's a good mix of experienced players. We have also champions in this team who won trophies in their club and I think we we have to be really grateful to have also players who know how to win Champions League of competition, and it's a looks that we have to to really use it to build.

"Also the experience and all the game management and the winning mentality."
