Sebastien Haller to West Ham: no progress in transfer talks as Mario Husillos lands in China

West Ham are still desperately on the hunt for a new striker but reports claiming that a deal has been struck for Sebastien Haller are a little wide of the mark, football.london understands.

The Hammers only registered their interest in the French striker on Wednesday after missing out on Uruguayan striker Maxi Gomez, who is joining Valencia instead.

West Ham quickly turned their attentions to Haller, who scored 15 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga last season but he is one of a number of striker targets the club has on its radar.

Frankfurt have already sold Luka Jovic to Real Madrid this summer for a rumoured €70m and could well lose another forward in Ante Rebic and those two formed a dynamic front three with Haller last season.

Football.London sources have remained quiet on the Haller speculation, which could say a lot, but have confirmed that the Frenchman is a target and that discussions are on-going.

Not involved in those discussions is Hammer director of football Mario Husillos, who has arrived in China with the playing squad and staff today (Sunday). We understand that Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan and super agent Kia Joorabchian will be trying to get a deal sorted while Husillos is in the Far East, though the Argentine will still be involved in discussions when possible.

The Chilean manager has included just one recognised striker in the 23-man squad that arrived in Nanjing on Sunday afternoon and that is Javier Hernandez as Jordan Hugill was left back in London having failed to play any part in the friendly victory over SCR Altach last Thursday in Austria.
