Seattle Seahawks Week 9 player of the game: WR Tyler Lockett

The Seattle Seahawks survived a hard-fought battle against Bruce Arians and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, winning 40-34 to move to 7-2 on the year.

Seattle mounted a second-half comeback that went into overtime because of a missed field goal by Jason Myers but was ultimately won thanks to a touchdown from Russell Wilson to tight end Jacob Hollister, his second of the game.

Hollister scoring the first two touchdowns of his NFL career, and having his second one be a legitimate game-winner, would normally be plenty for him to win Seattle’s player of the game honors.

However, it’s impossible to ignore the numbers put up by veteran receiver Tyler Lockett, who had 13 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

Lockett is continuing to have the strongest season of his NFL career, and his connection with Wilson is the best it has ever been. Lockett scored on Seattle’s first drive of the game on a 19-yard reception, and again midway through the third quarter on a two-yard reception.

He had multiple other big-time catches as well, many that saved drives and kept Seattle’s hopes alive as they frantically mounted a comeback.

DK Metcalf had 123 yards and a touchdown on six receptions, and of course, Wilson was a machine with 29 completions, 378 yards, and five touchdowns, but Lockett was completely dominant and earned player of the game honors in Seattle’s Week 9 victory.
