Seattle Seahawks opt to not activate tight end Ed Dickson for Week 9

The Seahawks will not be getting any extra help at the tight end position Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team had until Saturday afternoon to activate Ed Dickson to the 53-man roster if he was to appear in the matchup. Seattle opted to wait at least another week.

Earlier in the week, the Seahawks had designated Dickson for return from the injured reserve. After sitting out the first eight games of the season, Dickson became eligible to resume practice.

“He did fine, he did make it through the week,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday. “Gives us a chance that we could activate him. We’re going to take it all the way up to game time here, or to our last opportunity tomorrow. We’ll let you know what we’re doing there.”

With Will Dissly lost for the season, Dickson will eventually add a much-needed presence to the tight end corps. He’ll likely practice at least another week to gain valuable reps before he’s activated back to the roster.

The Seahawks are set to face the Buccaneers at home on Sunday at CenturyLink Field, and for now, Dickson will be watching from the sidelines.
