Seattle is ‘legit the perfect fit’ for rookie draft pick Gary Jennings

Rookie wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. got the call from the Seahawks immediately before he was selected by Seattle with the No. 120 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft.

“It was a feeling like no other,” Jennings told reporters Saturday after he got the news. “For it to be Seattle as well, it’s a perfect fit for me.  For the system and what they do as an offense.”

Jennings is one of three wide receivers the Seahawks drafted this year, hoping to find a long-term replacement for Doug Baldwin should he make the difficult decision to retire before the start of the season.

Seattle clearly saw Jennings as a viable option as well, having experience lining up all over the field.

“I played in the slot the majority of the time my past two seasons, and I played on the outside for my freshman and sophomore year,” Jennings explained. “So I have a decent background in both areas.”

Jennings called himself the “guy to go to” in crucial situations, pointing to his steady hands, speed and play-making ability – exactly what Seattle needs.

Said Jennings: “It’s legit the perfect fit; legit the perfect fit.”
