Seaside village near Edinburgh named one of the top trending beauty spots in UK

Taking a break to escape the winter blues is more important than ever, and getting out and seeing what Scotland has to offer is often a great way to feel reinvigorated.

Thankfully, the area around the capital and the east coast offers plenty of fun escapes to explore and enjoy over a wee day away or two.

One little gem of a village, in particular, could be the answer. Lying on the East Neuk of Fife, you'll find the stunning fishing village of Pittenweem - which has just been named one of the top trending scenic Scottish beauty spots for travel in 2023.

Home To Go, the marketplace with the world's largest selection of holiday rentals, has today released this year's list, with the coastal village joining the likes of Lamlash on Arran, Morar on the west coast and Lochinver in the Highlands in the to 10.

The holiday rentals marketplace took a deep dive into the data to identify which of Scotland's picture-perfect villages had seen the most significant search increases for stays in the year ahead.

And under the radar location, Pittenweem, has been named in the top 10 for the second year in a row.

According to the HTG team, the little east coast village, which was 2022's top trending spot, is best visited between August 5 and the 12, during which time the Pittenweem Arts Festival takes place, to enjoy this Fife village’s "artsy atmosphere".

Lying just an hour and a half drive from the capital, the historic fishing village is characterised by colourful boats bobbing in the harbour and pretty streets lined by cottages with crow-stepped gables.

Despite being a small fishing village, the area punches above its weight when it comes to things to do, with tons of independent galleries, shops and places to eat, including some incredible chippies.

Enjoy some of the freshest north sea haddock wrapped up in delicious golden batter as you enjoy watching the sunset and the boats come in at the picturesque harbour.

Exploring the area couldn't be easier thanks to the Fife Coastal path, which takes in other villages in the area such as St Monans and Anstruther and plenty of beaches.

Whisky fans will also be spoiled with nearby Kingsbarns home to one of Scotland's newest and most exciting distilleries.

There’s also a chance to step back in time with a visit to St Fillan’s Cave, Kellie Castle & Garden and the Scottish Fisheries Museum, which are all within easy reach.
