Search widens in Ukraine’s Ternopil after deadly Russian apartment strike

The attack struck early on 19 November 2025, hitting two apartment blocks as well as an industrial site in the city about 200 kilometres from the Polish border.

Crews pulled dozens of injured residents from the rubble, including 15 children, bringing the total number of wounded to 73.

Many of the victims died in a fire that swept through the buildings.

Officials said 19 people, among them three children aged 5, 7 and 16, were burned alive.

About 24 people remain missing, and teams expect to search the site for at least two more days.
